Welcome! I am Joost Wintermans, born in the last year of WWII. After a career in science (physics), computer industry and ICT services I have been introduced in a new world. In 2002 I started formal training to be an artist at the Arendonk (Belgium) Academy of Arts. Recently I have started to call myself a portrait painter. Hesitantly, as I am rather critical. Over the past year I have accepted a number of commissions which, in my opinion, have come out rather nicely.
In the past year I had a number of expositions which brought me new commissions to my great satisfaction of course!
Doing portraits is my thing. People, old or young. In action or in rest. Single or as a group. Also portraits that could not exist. Some say 'magic realism' but that would be too much honour. I would want to stand in the shadow of Carel Willink (1900-1983). Commissions I find true challenges.
